How to Pass The Alabama CDL Test. What You Need to Know.

In Alabama, the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act was passed in the year1986 so as to improve highway safety. It aims to ensure that drivers of commercial vehicles are qualify ed to drive them, and also, to remove the ones who weren’t great drivers. Before the above-mentioned act came into being, there were a lot of commercial drivers who drove the vehicles that they were not qualified to drive and had not undergone proper training to drive them. Even in those states that had their license classes, drivers were not necessarily tested for the types of vehicles that they will be driving. According to this act, it’s also illegal to have multiple drivers’ licenses. These days, all the states are connected to a national database in order to check driver histories.

So as to be eligible for an Alabama CDL, you must be capable of reading and speaking English at least well enough in order to read the road signs, prepare reports, and communicate with the public. For all those who want to obtain an Alabama commercial driver's license, they’ll have to take one or more tests, depending on the particular class and endorsement they want to go for. Some of the courses in Alabama test include Air-Brakes, General Knowledge, Tankers, Doubles/triples, Hazardous Materials, Passenger Transport, and School Bus.

Different types of test are required to obtain the license of Class A, Class B or Class C. The vehicles included in all three classes can also vary. In Class C, the driver gets the permit to transport more than 16 persons in the vehicle. The number includes the driver. You have only a year to complete all the remaining portions of the CDL process, e.g., road, pre-trip and skills test, after you get the laminated CDL by mail. Another important thing that you must take into consideration is that, just because you undertook the CDL Learners Permit test at your local DPS it does not mean that you can go back to the same DPS to take the skills test. Only certain DPS offices in Alabama are allowed to conduct the skills test.
